Looking forward to our 3rd Fabulous with 47 race at beautiful Woodlawn....
New this year.... Self-advocate Speaker: Adrian Forsythe
We are very excited to welcome our first self-advocate speaker, Adrian Forsythe. Adrian is a very impressive young man who is a college student as well as an aspiring actor. He is going to speak to us about his successes and challenges as a young man with Down syndrome. He will speak at 1:00 after both races are finished. We are very lucky to have his participation in this year's race event!
The goal: Learn more about Down Syndrome Education International......
This organization is constantly researching the best practices for educating individuals with Down syndrome. They have developed learning programs for reading, language, math and speech, which they offer free on their website (under See and Learn). They offer conferences around the world to share their techniques and research with families and professionals. Fabulous with 47 would like to bring one of these conferences to Southern Maryland to educate families as well as professionals on the best practices in the education of individuals with Down syndrome as well other individuals with special needs. Please visit their website and check out all of the incredible work that they are doing to ensure a better future for students in special education.
